Training and upgrading to Montesanto Sellano, Italy, 23 and 24 October 2015

Within the Project " Mathematics , difficulties , opportunities , active for 10 years at the Laboratory of Experimental Sciences in collaboration with the University of Perugia , Department of Mathematics and Computer Science , with the USL 2 Umbra , with the Municipality of Foligno and with the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Foligno, it was held training and refresher courses for teachers of the school before and secondary levels on set of problems: Dyscalculia : experiences . methodologies , perspectives. The course was held at the beautiful resort of Montesanto for Science , Umbria , at the headquarters of Montesanto Science on 23 and 24 October 2015..The initiative has had the initial objective to evaluate the results of the activity that is carried out at the Laboratory of Experimental Sciences since 2005, based on a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Municipality of Foligno, the ASL 3 Umbria, the Unit Developmental disorders of the ASL Umbria, the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Perugia, the Laboratory of Experimental Sciences, the Italian Association of People Down, Group Flaminia Foligno. The activity, aimed at children and children bearers of dyscalculia, is to conduct educational activities related to mathematics from objects, designed by the Laboratory of Experimental Sciences and Prof.sa Emanuela Ughi, professor of Mathematics Education at the University the University of Perugia.

Over the years the activities have affected an increasing number of girls and children living in different cities of Umbria. In the early years the activities were targeted at girls and boys attending the schools of Foligno, then those of Bastia Umbra, Spoleto and Terni, as in 2015.
The activity, unique in Italy, could try a more comprehensive approach to the problems of dyscalculia, integrating clinical rehabilitation specialist with educational aspects and therefore have been made continuously tests and refinements of intervention strategies.
Girls and boys who attended the meetings in different locations showed an active participation and a more positive attitude and helpful.
Parents expressed their appreciation both in oral statements in both questionnaires of satisfaction that every bored, have been distributed to them.

The second goal was to start a business training of teachers of primary and secondary schools in Umbria, so that educational activities for carriers of dyscalculia may be more extensive and widely as possible and, above all, it continued over time in the classroom .

In addition, through training activities, which was only a moment of training, share the issues from teachers and joint research will seek to establish a core group of teachers engaged in such activity in the various schools.
